One of our principals will meet with you to better understand your business, your goals, and your Story. From the information gathered we will prepare a custom Business Valuation Analysis.
We are happy to answer all of your questions and explain the process. This is a big decision and you need to be comfortable with your advisor and Evolutions approach.
Step 2: Preparation for Sale
Preparing your business for sale is a critically important process and can have a direct effect on both the price you receive and the time your business spends on market. There are things you should, and shouldn’t, do.
We’ll help you focus on the most important things and even provide a personalized checklist for you to follow, saving you a great deal of time and stress.
Step 3: Create a Confidential Business Review & Strategic Marketing Plan
When selling your business you don’t just hang a FOR SALE sign on the front door and hope for the best! It takes knowledge of the market and a strategic sales strategy to get the right price and sell in a timely manner.
We’ll prepare both an Confidential Business Review (a confidential description of your business) and a Strategic Marketing Plan for you to review and approve.
This is where Evolution can provide significant value…it’s what makes your business come alive in the eyes of a buyer. Buyers can’t feel truly invested in your business just based on the financial statements— they need to understand and appreciate the Story behind those financials.

Step 4: Screening Buyers & Answering Initial Questions
We’ll be sure all prospective buyers are “real” and have the financial ability and necessary experience (if needed) to purchase your business. There are always lots of questions at this stage and your Evolution Advisor will document and respond to all of them, freeing you up to continue managing your business while we work on your behalf.
Step 5: Negotiation & Deal Structure
Every deal is different and we’ll address any requirements in structuring the deal and work with your accountant or other associates as you request.
We also handle negotiations. That’s one of the benefits of partnering with Evolution—you won’t be put on the spot or find yourself in an uncomfortable situation where you have to negotiate directly with the buyer.
We act as a buffer, suggest options, and structure ideas so you can get the best deal possible.
Step 6: Due Diligence
During due diligence it seems like a million little things need to be done. But Evolution handles it all for you, from organizing a visit to your business and setting up the seller-buyer interview to coaching you on how to answer particular questions and preparing you for things that may come up during the process.
Our proprietary systemized transaction process ensures that all of the details are completed and momentum is maintained as we work towards the closing.
Step 7: Successful Closing & Celebration!
You reached the finish line! We’ll work with the escrow officer to ensure a smooth closing and overcome any last minute obstacles that always come up.
